Restaurant SKREI in Lofoten

Restaurant SKREI is located in Storvågan, just outside Kabelvåg, in the heart of SKREI – Museum Nord’s new visitor centre dedicated to the story of Arctic cod and the Lofoten fishery. Here, architecture, local culture and good food come together in surroundings shaped by the sea, history and the dramatic landscape of Lofoten.

Throughout the day we serve lunch, coffee and homemade pastries in a relaxed setting. From August 2026, Restaurant SKREI will also welcome guests for dinner, with a seasonal menu inspired by ingredients from the sea and surrounding landscape. Created as a year-round destination, the restaurant welcomes both local guests and travellers looking for authentic food in Lofoten.

Dinner in Lofoten

Opening August 2026

From August 2026, Restaurant SKREI expands with an evening dining concept centred around seasonal ingredients from both land and sea. Modern Norwegian cooking, respect for the seasons and carefully sourced produce form the foundation of every dish.

With views towards the sea and the landscape that has shaped generations of coastal life, the restaurant offers a peaceful setting for conversations and shared meals. The menu will change throughout the year, reflecting both nature’s rhythm and the traditions of Lofoten.

Part of SKREI – Museum Nord

Restaurant SKREI is part of SKREI – Museum Nord’s new visitor centre in Storvågan, where the story of Arctic cod, the Lofoten fishery and coastal communities comes to life. Together with the landmark building Otolitten, the Lofoten Museum, Galleri Espolin and the Lofoten Aquarium, it forms one of Northern Norway’s most important cultural destinations.

The building takes its name from the otolith — the small ear bone of a fish whose growth rings reveal the story of its life. In much the same way, the surrounding landscape, generations of fishermen and the seasonal cod fishery tell the story of Lofoten.

Combine your museum visit with lunch or dinner and discover local food, history and nature in one memorable destination.
