Restaurant SKREI in Lofoten

Restaurant SKREI in Lofoten

Restaurant SKREI is located in Storvågan, just outside Kabelvåg, in the heart of SKREI – Museum Nord’s new visitor centre dedicated to the story of Arctic cod and the Lofoten fishery. Here, architecture, local culture and good food come together in surroundings shaped by the sea, history and the dramatic landscape of Lofoten.

Throughout the day, we serve lunch, coffee and homemade pastries in a relaxed setting. Restaurant SKREI is a year-round destination for local guests and travellers looking for authentic food in Lofoten.

In February 2027, we will take the next step as Restaurant SKREI opens for dinner. A restaurant with high ambitions is taking shape, with contemporary Norwegian flavours, carefully selected ingredients and Lofoten as both its setting and inspiration.

Dinner in Lofoten

Restaurant SKREI opens in February 2027.

In February 2027, Restaurant SKREI opens its doors in Kabelvåg. A restaurant with high ambitions is taking shape. Here, ingredients from sea and land meet contemporary Norwegian flavours and precise craftsmanship.

The menu will be firmly rooted in the region and guided by the seasons. Quality, provenance and respect for each ingredient will be at the heart of the kitchen, with Lofoten as both its setting and inspiration.

For generations, the sea and landscape have shaped life in Lofoten. They will also play an important part in Restaurant SKREI. Food, hospitality and surroundings will come together in a place for long dinners and good conversations. Above all, we want to create flavours worth travelling for.

We look forward to sharing more of what Restaurant SKREI will become.

Part of SKREI – Museum Nord

Restaurant SKREI is part of SKREI – Museum Nord’s new visitor centre in Storvågan. Here, the story of Arctic cod, the Lofoten fishery and coastal communities comes to life.

Together with the landmark building Otolitten, the Lofoten Museum, Galleri Espolin and the Lofoten Aquarium, it forms an important cultural destination in Northern Norway.

The building takes its name from the otolith, the small ear bone of a fish. Its growth rings reveal the story of the fish’s life. In the same way, the surrounding landscape, generations of fishermen and the seasonal cod fishery tell the story of Lofoten.

Combine your museum visit with lunch or dinner and discover local food, history and nature in one memorable destination.

Our Host

Restaurant SKREI in Lofoten is led by Robert Humphries, who brings many years of experience from the international hotel and restaurant industry. Together with his team, he is developing a restaurant rooted in warm hospitality, seasonal ingredients and the rich history of Lofoten.

The ambition is simple. We want every guest to feel genuinely welcome and each meal to become a natural part of their journey through Lofoten.
